Terms and Conditions

The Research – and Transfer Centre „Sustainability and Climate Change Management” (FTZ-NK) as the provider of the COVID-19 Scientific Research Database on Treatment Options (COVID-TREAT) offers the user  information on the literature related to COVID-19 treatment methods and options. The database allows clinical staff, researchers, government authorities and University students (e.g. medicine, biomedicine, pharmacy) to access previously selected "peer-reviewed" literature on treatment for COVID-19, from some of the world´s leading journals. in an uncomplicated way. We speak of “users” in the following terms and conditions as a generic noun for all user profiles registered on the platform.

§ 1 Scope

The present conditions apply to the use of the COVID-TREAT platform as well as the related technical infrastructure. These conditions apply regardless of the location of the access. 

§ 2 Registration/Participation

The COVID-TREAT platform is an open platform. 

  1. Use with registration
    1.1 Further use of the COVID-TREAT database requires a registration.
    1.2 There is no entitlement to registration and participation.
    1.3 When registering, the user is under an obligation to provide true information. All required fields should be duly completed. The specified e-mail address will be verified before the user’s first login.
    1.4 The user may not grant his access to the database to third parties. Furthermore, the user undertakes to keep login details secret, not to pass them on to third parties or to enable third parties to access them. The provider is not liable for damages resulting from an unauthorized use of password-protected logins by third parties. In case of suspected use of the account by third parties, the user is obligated to report immediately to dataprivacy(@)

§ 3 Services provided

  1. The FTZ-NK admits the user access to the COVID-TREAT database. The service is provided free of charge within the scope of technical and economic means of the FTZ-NK. The FTZ-NK makes every effort to keep the service available. However, FTZ-NK does not guarantee a constant availability of the service. 
  2. The FTZ-NK is not obligated to rate or comment on content transmitted by the user. The FTZ-NK may - at its own discretion - communicate with the user regarding critism, updates, feedback, status or questions.
  3. The FTZ-NK assumes no liability for the correctness, completeness, reliability, actuality and usability of the content provided.

§ 4 Links

The website may contain external links to web pages of third parties. Liability for these websites lies with their respective providers. The FTZ-NK shall have no liability for the present or future content published on such web pages. External linking or integrating content of third-parties’ websites does not mean that the FTZ-NK adopts the corresponding contents as its own. Constant monitoring of these external links by the FTZ-NK without specific indications of legal violations is not reasonable. However, such external links will be immediately deleted when any violation of the law is noticed. If any contraventions are noticed, these external links will be removed immediately.

§ 5 Limitation of liablity

  1. The liability of the FTZ-NK is limited to damages resulting from intentional or grossly negligent breaches as well as for damages resulting from minor negligent violations of essential contractual obligations. Regarding the latter, liability is limited to typical, foreseeable damages. The above-mentioned limitations of liability also applies in case of breaches of duty by employees, representatives or vicarious agents of the FTZ-NK. therwise, the statutory provisions shall apply.
  2. The user shall indemnify FTZ-NK for claims brought by third parties, against the FTZ-NK due to contents added by the user. This also comprises the costs incurred for FTZ-NK’s appropriate legal defence.

§ 6 Duties of the user

  1. The COVID-TREAT database is intended for use within the terms of use and may not be used for commercial purposes.

§ 7 Rights of use 

  1. The ownership for the content remains with the respective authors. The right of use shall survive even after termination of participation. The FTZ-NK is entitled to move content within this website and link it with other content. 

§ 8 Data protection

The data protection regulations applicable to the COVID-TREAT database is available at any time under

§ 9 Termination of use

  1. The user may terminate registration and participation by making a corresponding declaration to the FTZ-NK without observing deadline. 
  2. In the event of an important reason, the FTZ-NK is entitled to immediately block the access of the user and to terminate registration and participation without observing a deadline. 
  3. After termination of registration and participation, the FTZ-NK is entitled to block the access of the user to the database. The user is able to terminate registration and participation at any time by clicking on the respective button on its account information page.

§ 10 Change or termination of service

  1. The FTZ-NK reserves itself the right to change service.
  2. The FTZ-NK reserves itself the right to terminate service at any time. In case of termination, the provider will delete all information related the user.

§ 11 Miscellaneous

  1. The FTZ-NK is located in Hamburg, Germany. The present terms of use shall be governed by the laws of Germany. Place of jurisdiction shall be Hamburg.
  2. The FTZ-NK reserves the right to change the conditions of use with effect for the future.
